Fisher’s innovative teaching idea, “Onward and Upward,” focuses on providing students with a portable workspace for home and tools to help with homework. The Voya grant will be used to purchase calculators for Algebra as well as basic homework equipment. Through the program, parents will attend informational sessions that focus on giving them the confidence to guide and support their student even when they have not been formally educated past grammar school, do not speak English and/or are at work when their student is home doing homework.
