Wagner’s innovative teaching idea, “Silent Heroes Project,” focuses on helping students develop historical research and writing skills by having them create an online resource dedicated to the American service members who gave their lives during the 1944 D-Day invasion in Normandy, France. Students will be tasked with researching an assigned soldier using primary and secondary sources and then must create a digital multimedia tribute piece honoring their role in the war effort. Students will hone their analyzation, communication and writing skills as they engage in independent research and present their findings. The student’s research will be professionally compiled and given to the Superintendent of the American National Cemetery for archival purposes. Wagner seeks to deepen students understanding of war while honoring those who came before.
