The team’s innovative teaching idea, “Video in the Classroom,” is focused on purchasing a classroom set of digital camcorders and using this technology to teach students how to present themselves while public speaking, interviewing for jobs and applying for scholarships. Students will learn best practices to film projects, speeches, mock interviews and presentations. After filming, students will then preform a self-analysis, make corrections and re-film to make any necessary improvements. As the students become more confident in their abilities, they will have options to create larger productions that will be included in digital portfolios, college and job applications, and cross-curricular assignments. The four teachers are committed to using video technology for school assignments to enrich the learning environment by allowing students to personalize their learning experience.
