The team’s innovative teaching idea, “Art and Entrepreneur Course,” focuses on encouraging students to focus on college and beyond. The goal of the course is to provide students with the educational foundation they need to grow and succeed in the academic world, while exposing them to different opportunities that exist outside of academia. The year-long Art and Entrepreneur Course will provide students with the foundation to start their own business; instruction on the basics of personal and business finances; exposure to different career options; and instruction in both media and fine art about how those avenues can be utilized across all career paths. The course is designed as a bi-weekly afterschool program (virtual and in-person) and will culminate in a showcase of students’ creations and with the possibilities of summer internships with local businesses.
