Urban's "Adopt a Grandparent" project gives middle school students a chance to interact with members of the community with whom they normally do not interact. Two or three students are paired with a resident at a local nursing home whom they visit twice a month. Students also write letters and create artwork for their adopted grandparent. The students are not the only ones that benefit from the project. The residents of the nursing home look forward to the visits from the students as well.
