Harris’ innovative teaching idea, “Many Languages, One Voice,” is focused on creating folktale plays, designed by the students in the speech/drama elective, to represent their home culture. The school has more than 40 languages spoken in the homes of its students, so many of the stories will be narrated in two or more languages. Once the scripts are written, the students will perform their plays at the Boys & Girls Clubs in the community, providing the opportunity for them to serve as role models for these children, while opening their eyes to a variety of cultures.
