Karen Grindall

Grindall's program, "On the Road Again", will showcase important landmarks from geographic regions across the country. With many of her students limited in their travel, she wants to teach students at Portage Path School of Technology more about the country they live in. The program involves developing resource boxes for each region that contain videos, maps and other materials to highlight the unique qualities of that area. Students will be broken up into groups and given a start city. They will have a mileage limit, and are commissioned to learn about attractions and landmarks in their region. They will then present their findings to the class, thus giving students a virtual road trip across the nation. This will bring a fresh perspective to learning about all of the regions in the United States, a key component of the school curriculum. In addition to important pre- and post-tests, students will be asked to provide a narrative evaluation of their experience, helping refine the process for years to come. Grindall resides in Akron.
