Julie Hook

Hook's "Magazine Project" creates a 20-page magazine by each student in Graphics I. The student determines the magazine's theme, and writes one major article, two minor articles, a crossword puzzle, a word search and a specialty item such as an advice column. Original ads are created for products that are consistent with the magazine's theme. Students use design, journalism and writing skills and learn PageMaker or CorelDraw computer programs. Public speaking skills are used in the oral presentation of each student's magazine.
