Teaming up with fellow educator Valerie Muller, Snyder's "Mathematics - Music to the Ear, Art to the Eye" project is an effort to expand already-developed activities that use music, art and technology in algebra and geometry classes to allow students to see the beauty of mathematics. Examples of classroom activities include discovering the connections between radical functions and frequencies of musical notes; representing three-dimensional objects using orthographic, isometric and perspective drawings; and constructing mobiles consisting of Platonic and Archimedean solids using origami. The project creates a fun teaching/learning environment that encourages exploration and risk taking.
