Judith Mendoza-Aransay

Mendoza-Aransay’s innovative teaching idea, “Spanish Puppet Show,” focuses on creating an opportunity for her and her middle school students to collaborate with elementary teachers for the profit of all the Spanish students in their community. Her students use Spanish to create a puppet show that is shared and appreciated by the community, and it has become an inspiration for the elementary students who, later on, come to middle school willing to participate in a project like this. It promotes their Spanish program in the community and encourages families to enroll their children in foreign language classes. The new funds will help buy laptops to create and edit the script, all the necessary materials to build the new wooden theatre frame and all the materials to create a new show, to be released in the fall of 2019.
