Seeger's "Soaring to Success in Science" project teaches the principles of science to K-3 students through the use of manipulative exercises and self-discovery in small learning groups where cooperative learning and communication skills are stressed. This is reinforced among primary students by sending backpacks organized around a science theme home with the students to review with their parents. This helps link the school and home and increases parental involvement in the education process. Benefits include improved skills in science, a positive attitude toward education, and enhanced parent/child relationships.
