Joseph Long and Jen Hiller
Long’s and Hiller’s innovative teaching idea, “Coding,” focuses on enhancing students’ technological skills in the realm of coding. They realized that the students in Northwest Middle/High School live in a remote area and access to the technological world was a challenge. Through the “Coding” project, students will apply the coding skills they have learned to control dash/dot robots or robots through the Lego Mind Storm kits. The goal is to give the students a real-life opportunity to experience coding and realize the true power of technology. Long and Hiller hope the project will teach students how think logically and critically — and give them the chance to collaborate with fellow classmates to reach new heights in technology education. All of these skills are beneficial in the real world.
