Jonas Almerino
Almerino’s innovative teaching idea, “Bio-Chem Lab Startup,” is designed to create a new, cutting-edge laboratory for Sallie B. Howard School of Arts and Science’s biology and chemistry programs. As a foundational step in establishing their science curriculum, this initiative is focused on building a laboratory from the ground up, tailored to meet the modern educational needs of students in these subjects. With the help of the Voya Unsung Heroes grant, the school would be able to procure advanced equipment and high-quality materials for the project. This initiative focuses on enhancing the practical learning experience for students, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific concepts through hands-on experimentation. By upgrading and modernizing the lab facilities, the school will strive to inspire future scientists, improve educational outcomes, and support innovative teaching approaches in the science curriculum. The expected outcome is a fully equipped, functional lab that stimulates curiosity, encourages scientific inquiry and prepares students for higher education and careers in science-related fields.
