The "Assessment A.S.A.P. - Assess & Engage With Technology" project will be implemented by Witzmann to ultimately raise Arlington High School students' scores on the Minnesota MCA state mathematics test. To do this, Witzmann will assess all students with a Texas Instruments Navigator System. With the help of school-provided graphing calculators, students will be able to respond to teacher and student-posed questions. The Navigator system will display all answers anonymously except to the teacher, which should encourage all students to participate. Witzmann will then be able to adjust the content of his lessons based on student responses in real time. Students will be able to work in small groups or as a class to prove or disprove the collaborative solutions, which fosters team work and problem solving. Witzmann hopes that the students will experience a clearer understanding of mathematics that can break barriers to future learning and positively impact test scores. Witzmann resides in St. Paul.
