Capital High School
Teaming up with fellow educator Jeanne Tweeten, Meyer's "Engagement & E books" project is designed to enhance the writing, reading, researching and analytical skills of students by providing them additional guidance through both mentors and improved resources. Underclassmen students enjoy the benefit of working on research projects with not only the classroom teacher, but also a National Honor Society student advisor. These relationships challenge the NHS student to both exercise and teach the skills they've developed, while the mentees are provided focused attention on their assignment, and a role model. Additionally, "Engagement & E books" aims to upgrade the library's current reference book section by investing in online reference books, which students can access from school or home. By engaging students to work more collaboratively on research projects and providing up-to-date research resources, this program helps better prepare students for continued academic success.
