Jerry Robertson

Robertson's "Knowing and Growing" project gives students a better appreciation for science and nature as they help build and operate a greenhouse. With the help of faculty and volunteer parents, students demonstrate how math problems correspond to the construction of the building. Students also keep a "Greenhouse Reflections" journal in which they write about their experiences. Once the greenhouse is established, students grow and tend to plants for delivery to local hospitals and nursing homes and present weekly science/botany lessons on the school video system. Students also earn money for the project by selling plants to parents and friends.
