Albrecht’s innovative teaching idea, “Digital Media Production,” is designed to provide students with the opportunity to use broadcast production techniques as a means to learn life-long technological skills. Research suggests that education and training programs must relate directly to the skill needs, and can lead to credentials that are valuable to employers. With this project, students will work within the community and school district to develop and communicate activities and events around the school and community via streaming newscasts on the Internet and cable public access channels. The project will incorporate digital camcorders, teleprompters, video and audio editing software, camera switchers, audio and lighting equipment, learning module stations for news production jobs, and various smaller needs to perform the student tasks and projects.
