Woods' program, "New Haven ABC," has third grade students write an A-B-C book modeled after "Washington, D.C. ABC's - An Alphabet Picture Book About Our Nation's Capital." Students learn about their city by identifying important people, places and events in New Haven's history. The book serves as a reference to identify historical landmarks and as a guide to the city. Students develop skills researching, map reading, writing and effectively using reference materials. Students use modern technology such as a digital camera for pictures of landmarks and a computer to download pictures.
