Jason Raymond, Myles Jewell, Ned Castle and Samuel Dingba
The team’s innovative teaching idea, “African Youth Micro Cinema Project,” is a collaboration with University of Vermont film professor Myles Jewell and freelance filmmaker Ned Castle, with the support and assistance of Samuel Dingba, youth program coordinator at the Association of Africans Living in Vermont. The project will involve the creation of films that explore cultural norms and archetypes in semi-scripted episodic shorts. Students will explore genres, filmmaking, cultural identity, collaboration between myriad art media forms and the professional communities, providing students the opportunity to better their own identities, build production skills, network with area professionals and establish a creative outlet for the community within Vermont.
