Raymond’s innovative teaching idea, “Electro Hip Hop Club,” provides the tools and support to create media production content. Students have access to recording equipment and computers to produce content. Often, a portion of the program is working on beats, a portion is writing lyrics, another group is doing photography for album/social media, another group is working on recording, while another group makes and edits music videos. This program is different because it provides resources and space to students from all area schools. It’s a place where students from BHS and area schools (like CVU, CHS, EHS, SBHS, etc.) can collaborate on music. A place where refugee students from various regions of the world (including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Vietnam, Albania, Bhutan, and Somalia) can find their voice and create music with native students from Vermont, providing students with the opportunity and resources to collaborate from across the county.
