Jan Goodson

Goodson's "Connecting the World" is a technology integration project that gives students in a rural Appalachian community opportunities to learn more about the outside world. Using telecommunications, a school Web site, and other tools, students communicate with peers in faraway parts of the world (Mexico, Eurasia, Southeast Asia), learning about their lives and sharing aspects of their own. They also develop research-based projects to present what they've learned to other classes, their families, and the community. As they reach beyond the classroom and build knowledge of other cultures, students develop technical and writing skills.
