The team’s innovative teaching idea, “Fab Lab STEM Creations for Home Interiors,” will allow students taking interior design courses in the Family and Consumer Science Department to create innovative home interior projects. The students will utilize craft materials and the fabrication lab (Fab Lab) equipment to create and produce dioramas of living rooms and bedrooms in the Design 1 class. They will then move on to create a full-sized version of an element from their diorama in the Design 2 class. Through this project, students will learn hands-on skills that are highly valued in a wide range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields.
