The team’s innovative teaching idea, “Rochy Garden-School Garden,” focuses on further developing the school-based garden, which comprises 800 square feet of courtyard green space, with the goal of having a sustainable year-to-year garden that teaches preparation, growing and management techniques. The project will incorporate a cross-curricular approach as it is integrated into the school’s science and math subject areas. Students will participate in the growth and development of the garden area that will provide food and explore biological pathways related to plant ecology and ecosystem development.
