Gloria’s and Andea’s innovative teaching idea, “Math from School to Home,” focuses on multisensory instruction that takes kids beyond the classroom in order to make connections multiple ways, reaching every child's learning style. Through this project, students in a Title 1 kindergarten classroom will increase and maximize their math proficiency levels by using multisensory/social emotional learning (SEL) resources and activities both in school and at home. The Voya grant will provide students access to fun and inspiring math manipulatives; reusable "green" resources; take home math kits; technology; and math-inspired fieldtrips. In addition, the students’ parents will attend a bilingual kindergarten math training night in order to support them in “Math from School to Home.”
