Springfield High School
Celona created the "Physics Video Portfolios" program as a real-world representation of how physics relates to everyday life. Each year, approximately 300 students at Springfield High School in grades 11-12 will collaborate and create video presentations that focus on a particular physics concept that will simultaneously be taught in the classroom. At least four times during a semester, students will be required to create a video which explains the topic to their peers. They also will be asked to perform a hands-on demonstration of it. Finally, students will choose a typical problem related to the topic, and through the video, teach their audience of peers how to solve it. Celona hopes the program will help more students become scientifically literate and interested in pursuing careers in a science-related field. He resides in Glenolden.
