Elizabeth Miller

Miller's "Minding Our Own Business" project teaches young students about economics and the business world by creating a mini-society consisting of student-run businesses that use a special school currency. Students become entrepreneurs as they design "kid-sized" stores, apply for licenses, and sell items to others in the school community. Input is gathered from guest community business owners. Through integrated lessons in math, social studies, and language arts, students discover the difference between wants and needs, and gain valuable real-life experience.
