Donald Mowry

Mowry's "Test and Correct," project is a corrections and mentor system that rewards students for understanding and learning from their mistakes. After students take unit tests, they are given an opportunity to amend incorrect answers by writing out an explanation of the correct response. The students are then given two grades - an actual grade and a curved grade that rewards them for accurately describing the correct response to any test questions that they missed. This system improves the students' writing skills and ensures that they master current material before moving on to new material. In addition, it helps teachers measure whether specific students are comprehending subject matter taught during each unit.
