Sande’s innovative teaching idea, “STEM Innovation Lab,” focuses on setting up an elementary STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lab so students can begin to learn problem-solving and innovation at a young age. The program’s goal is to give students background and skills to address real-world problems as they progress in their academic careers. The new STEM lab, created with resources from the Voya grant, will provide students with a separate classroom, equipped with resources to help them focus on engineering design, problem solving, pitching ideas and innovation.
