Weymouth High School

“Wildcats Give Back” is Cost’s winning project and will enable her students to develop mentoring projects within the school district to reach approximately 2,000 elementary and middle school students. Students from Weymouth High School‘s science and math academies will create age-appropriate, inquiry-based science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) lessons that they will bring to the students in elementary and middle school. Creating a district-wide sense of community through mentoring and engaging students in the fields of math, engineering and science are the two main goals of the project. Because the older students will be designing, teaching and running the projects, they will remain productive role models for the younger students while they reinforce their knowledge acquisition and information sharing skills. The teachers will be facilitators and liaisons for all students, and parents will be invited to town-wide presentations like science fairs and planned community family events where they can interact with their children under the direction of the high school student leaders. Cost lives in Carver.
