Demi Brown

Brown’s innovative teaching idea, “Digital Story-Telling,” involves kindergarten through sixth grade students creating digital stories with community members in the school’s diverse neighborhood, where 26 languages are spoken. Students will be partnered with a senior citizen at the local community center to interview and then create a digital story about their elder's life. Through this experience, children will learn to use technology to write and produce for authentic audiences. A showcase of the digital stories will be presented at the community center, with the whole neighborhood and local community leaders invited to attend.
