Mayo-Bruns' "School to Work" project helps high school seniors identify career pathways and gain experience interacting with adults in various vocational areas. By using e-mail and other "paperless" avenues provided by the Internet, students are paired with mentors in the field of their choice, "job shadowing" them when feasible and remaining in regular contact. Knowledge of career opportunities is increased, with emphasis on developing computer literacy skills relevant to today's job market. Opportunities for higher education are also explored.
