Deborah Forringer

Forringer teamed up with fellow teacher Eileen Serene to create "America's Promise," a program providing fun activities to enhance the teaching of our nation's history to students in first through sixth grade. These include publishing books and articles of student interviews of local veterans, Veterans Day assemblies with student skits and essays, hosting disabled servicemen and women for lunches and school band concerts, and assisting the American Legion in placing flags on veterans' graves. In addition to teaching U.S. history, these activities involve language arts, music, and creative skills, and students gain an appreciation of sacrifices made for our country by previous generations.
