Deborah Barberio

As the innovator who started the "STARS (Safe, Tolerant, Appropriate, Respectful, Successful)" program, Barberio has been teaching the students at Central Elementary the meaning of self respect. The program enables teachers to monitor and document students' progress by rewarding them for positive behavior not only in the classroom, but also in the cafeteria, hallways and playground. Barberio's project has been extremely successful in reducing discipline issues and absenteeism. Barberio lives in Moundsville.
