The group’s innovative teaching idea, “Classroom in Action ‘CIA,’” focuses on incorporating exercise equipment into multiple classrooms to enhance the students' learning experiences and overall wellness. A report from the Institute of Medicine reported “exercise can significantly improve a children’s cognitive abilities and their academic performance, as well as their health.” In order to encourage students to stay active, yoga balls as chairs, standing desks, bike desks and workstation treadmills would be utilized for the students to work out during class without compromising their classwork or disrupting their classmates. Heart rate monitors and iPad's will track and analyze the student’s activity data, which will be analyzed to see how they are benefiting from moving in the classroom.
