Wilson, NC
Beddingfield High School
Fansler plans to introduce a group of high school juniors and seniors to robotics with his "Robotics - Learning Electronics, Programming & Merging Them Together" program. During the 18-week course, students will learn the basics of electronics and how to program microprocessors. At the end of the course, students will put the electronic and engineering know-how they have learned to use as they construct robots using the Lego MindStorm NXT Robotics Kit. This program will serve as an excellent motivational tool for the students and will introduce them to the fields of electronics and engineering. Fansler believes the robotics program will instill a sense of confidence, pride and accomplishment in these students who otherwise do not find school interesting. Through the robotics program, Fansler hopes his students will be excited about the hands-on learning experience and pleased with the electronic fruits of their labors. Fansler is a resident of Wilson.
