Butler's "Biobot" project is a biology project in which students crate an anatomical "collage" of the human body using items commonly found around the house. Beginning with videos, research, and discussion about selected organs and their function, students then build a "biobot" to resemble the human anatomy. Students learn an alternative to laboratory dissection as well as prepare for the more authentic observations that might be made during later anatomical dissection of mammals. Students also learn research skills, group management skills, and develop an awareness of the complexity of the human body.
