Darrell Becker

Becker's "Poverty Research and Resource Acquisition" project teaches students, families, and educators about the resources necessary for an individual to escape poverty. By focusing on non-financial issues affecting those in poverty, the project builds on various governmental programs already in place. Issues explored include emotional and spiritual resources, availability of support systems, and the presence or absence of positive adult figures. Throughout the course of the project, students read, write, and summarize texts, maintain extensive notebooks, and employ research and technical skills.
