Darla Goe

Goe’s innovative teaching idea, “My Hero Is,” is focused on opening the possibilities for students to experience and interact with real unsung heroes in society. The program’s goal is to help students broaden the idea of “what they want to be when they grow up.” The students will have access to hands-on materials and have the capability to watch and read about the accomplishments of real-life heroes. Volunteers play an important role in the Parkdale community — from the fire department to community functions — and this program is designed to expand students’ vision of real unsung heroes, while also celebrating their own achievements to encourage students to become their own hero.
