Danielle Watson

Watson’s innovative teaching idea, “It’s A Wrap!,” is designed to combine and integrate science concepts with music, technology and video production. According to Watson, research shows that music has been essential in building reasoning power, memory and intelligence. In a middle school setting, where the students are experiencing hormonal shifts, tapping into music, social media networks, and technology, this program engages students in learning content and energizes them. The program will involve the purchase of audio/visual equipment that is currently unavailable. The overall goal of the project is to increase success as measured by science course exams and build a sense of community as students work collaboratively to create digital content. Many children who live below the poverty line are reluctant to get involved in science. The program eliminates the boundaries of peer pressure, poverty and apathy, involving students actively in their learning and providing them with an outlet of expression designed by their individual talents.
