Dana Stibor
Stibor’s innovative teaching idea, “Acellus AC-D2 Robot,” focuses on teaching coding skills through the Acellus Robotics Dance Programming course using a robot. The course provides students with foundational coding skills as they practice making the robot perform various movements and sounds. Stibor hopes that by seeing how their coding affects the robot’s movement, students will be excited to pursue STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) disciplines. Stibor’s district’s K-12 Independent Study program also uses the Acellus platform to deliver coding courseware designed for different grade levels from elementary through high school. The Voya grant will be used to purchase six AC-D2 dancing robots to complement the Robotics Dance Programming course as well as another robot that will be used in an Introduction to Coding course.
