Bond's "Wiser Miser Energy Education" teaches the value of energy conservation and recycling through student-led learning activities, demonstrations, and presentations to the school and local community. Through programs including the planting of trees, field trips to a local recycling center and power plant, and volunteering at a local assisted living center, students study and teach others about the need to conserve energy and be environmental stewards. Outside speakers provide presentations on electrical safety, recycling and soil conservation, and students participate in energy education booths at local fairs and events. Students in the program also have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and promote community service by raising funds for the construction of a local, energy-efficient Habitat for Humanity house.
