Clarice Morris

Morris' "Be Healthy Eat Right and Exercise (B. HERE)" program will empower Gorton High School students to promote healthy eating and regular exercise to youngsters. She saw an opportunity to use student-to-student interaction to combat and prevent obesity in young children and help each of them establish healthy lifestyles. Her students will make five visits to each elementary school class and encourage healthy eating with puppet shows, exercise demonstrations, and other fun activities. Teens will address the ills of the fast food industry and how a lack of exercise negatively impacts the body. Not only will the 25 Gorton High School students involved be role models to youngsters, they will also internalize the lessons they teach and hopefully apply it to their own lives. Morris resides in Irvington.
