Christine Blizzard-Wrobel
Blizzard-Wrobel’s innovative teaching program, “Integrated STEM Course,” allows students to develop a STEM-related project in an area of interest to them. According to Blizzard-Wrobel, the students will use STEM principles and the engineering design process to identify a problem that is important to them and develop a solution to the problem. They may choose a problem that they or that someone else in the community or around the world experience in their everyday lives. After identifying the problem, students will research already existing problems and reach out to professionals in related fields to identify the solutions and setbacks that already exist. They will then brainstorm and test ideas to develop a sustainable solution. Once a solution has been developed, students will learn the business side of engineering by developing a marketing strategy and pitching their product to community officials in a "Shark Tank" style competition.
