Celani Dominguez

Dominguez's "Chemistry and Physics for Limited English Speakers" project develops videotapes to teach Hispanic students the technical vocabulary of chemistry and physics. Each video explains terms in both Spanish and English, with Spanish interpretations of lab materials and instruments. Since bilingual science learning materials are virtually nonexistent, many Hispanic students possess the math skills but not the specialized vocabulary needed to succeed in high school science courses. The project helps these students master terms so they can participate in class discussions, conduct experiments, and fulfill written assignments.
