Bridget Royce and Angela Germano

Royce’s and Germano’s innovative teaching idea, “Building Gardens, Building Community,” will help students address two community issues: a lack of a pollinator habitat and a lack of usable outdoor community space. Students will design and build an ecologically friendly habitat and community space that will help them learn about ecosystems and how to apply math concepts to real-life experiences as they strive to create solutions to community issues. The Voya-funded project will also help rebuild a strong post-COVID-19 community space that will serve as a gathering place for outdoor classes and school events.
