In Wright's "Watching Our Water" program, 170 Charlotte Christian School students will research the purpose of water in the world. The students will also begin to understand the role they play in conserving and protecting water as a resource. Through monthly monitoring of water consumption at home, school and in the community, students will gain many research and critical thinking skills. The effects of water on air, soil and weather will be explored and various scenarios will be analyzed through the use of graphing calculators. A field trip to a Water and Waste Treatment Plant will offer participants the opportunity to learn about the technology used to treat water. By the end of the school year, the students will present their finding s in final projects on water consumption, conservation and pollution to the school and community. The research they provide, in particular, will offer ways to conserve water and reduce water usage at the school by 10%. Wright is a resident of Charlotte.
