Hove’s and Greenwald’s innovative teaching idea, “Fluency on the Move,” is designed to increase reading fluency and enhance student comprehension. The program will enable students who need further intervention or English language modeling to use a tablet to listen to a modeled reading multiple times before recording their own readings. The recordings may be used to document timed reading progress as well as miscue data to modify instruction. The mobility of the tablet allows students an opportunity to practice and record their fluency in the classroom, in the literacy intervention room or anywhere in the building. Incorporating this technology will allow students to benefit from modeled reading, independent practice as well as teacher feedback with the ultimate goal of improving students' reading fluency.
