Amelia Loyd

Loyd’s innovative teaching idea, “Wheelchair Accessible Play,” is focused on creating needed improvements to her school’s playground to make it accessible for students with physical limitations. Currently, students using wheelchairs have no accessible playground equipment. They spend their play time watching the other children play and have fun. To create a playground that is accessible to all students, Loyd plans to add wheelchair accessible swings, picnic tables and an omni-spinner. This will provide students with physical limitations multiple opportunities to interact socially with their peers and play outside together.
