Amanda Martin

Martin’s innovative teaching idea, “Video Blogging Overseas,” is focused on connecting her fourth-grade students with a class of children in Hong Kong to give the students a more global view of the world and the cultures of those in other countries. Martin’s students have sent video messages back and forth, giving their "buddies" some insight on life in the United States, specifically in Louisiana, and learning about the traditions and life style in Hong Kong. They have gotten the opportunity to connect with students who are about their age, on the other side of the globe. So far, this experience has enhanced their speaking, listening and writing skills, but Martin would like to get tablets to make completing the videos and connecting with the students in Hong Kong even more educational.
