Beneke’s innovative teaching idea, “Take Home Exploration Kit,” is designed to create tailored learning kits for students that ultimately help them learn at their level. Elements include items that students will need for exploring a topic as well as quick response codes to access additional information via a mobile device. The kit will also include a science journal in which the student can record information regarding the exploration. The journals will keep a running record for each of the kits, which will revolve around topics that generate critical thinking skills. Some kits will be to help students gain information around a topic while others will be for students to push their critical thinking and exploring to higher levels.
